Please join us in OPPOSING the "changes" made by the SHARE Curriculum to Lesson One. We were promised a balanced curriculum for the gender identity and sexual orientation lesson to include traditional views by BOT President, Katy Holland. SHARE did not provide that at all and it does not represent parents.
Parents in #NorthernNevada please ask yourself one question...Why is Planned Parenthood PUSHING radical #sexeducation on your children - on your family?
Tomorrow please let the #WCSD know that:
1) In June, the SHARE Committee was directed to create a balanced Lesson One to include traditional views, respecting all families of diverse backgrounds. Katy Holland, Board of Trustees President, verbalized the necessity for the lesson to be balanced so we must hold them to that. The lesson changes do not reflect that.
2) The school district and the SHARE committee did not regard all parents when they created the curriculum. They did not offer the lessons in Spanish until AFTER they voted them in. When complaints were filed, they were ignored by the district and the AG’s office despite half of the population being Hispanic. Hispanic Parents AND all parents, deserve to be 100% informed before votes are made. If Trustees vote this in, it will show a complete lack of disrespect for parents and it’s NOT INCLUSIVE OF THEM AT ALL.
3) The district conducted a survey of a sample of invited participants. The survey results clearly conveyed that parents are very comfortable talking to their kids about a variety of sexual topics. IN FACT-only 1% of parents stated they don’t. It is clear that parents are in control and it is not up to the SHARE Committee or the WCSD to tell parents they are wrong! THEY WORK FOR US. We don’t even need to prove anything to them through a survey. If a record number of parents show up to oppose ANYTHING at the school district-then that’s that! Clearly the district feels they know what’s better for our children than we do.
Planned Parenthood, SIECUS, Advocates for Youth and more are the organizations behind pushing sex ed on your kids and is where curriculum content is pulled from. Look up the orgs and see for yourself.
If you join with us in this message, please write email@example.com and let your voice be heard in person tomorrow.
Clarifying the myth behind sex ed
Following the most recent meeting on sex ed, a few left-wing news media outlets have reported that Power2Parent is an "anti sex ed" organization. This is simply untrue and is inaccurate reporting. As a non-partisan, non-ideological organization, we feel that sex education is an important part of a health education curriculum, however, we believe in the essential role of opt-in law to protect the rights of parents, and also do not support the "comprehensive sexuality education" curriculum being brought forth by many outside organizations.
