SUCCESS!
CCSD Students return to school, hybrid model, March 1st.
This is a win for parents. Thank you so much for engaging in the process and making this happen! Right now, the Clark County School District has rolled out their entire plan for getting kids back in school but our work is not done yet. So far, CCSD plans to only have K-5 back to school full time by the end of the school year. We need ALL kids back, ALL grades full time in school before fall. We REFUSE to let our children start on a hybrid schedule for the next school year!
CCSD Opening Timeline
- March 1 - All Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 3 students can return to face-to-face instruction under the hybrid instructional model
- March 22 - Grades 6, 9, & 12 can return to face-to-face instruction under the hybrid instructional model
- April 6 - Grades 7, 8, 10 & 11 can return to face-to-face instruction under the hybrid instructional model
- April 6 - Pre-Kindergarten through grade 5 can return to five days a week face-to-face instruction
We will continue to offer a full-time distance education option to our families who feel more comfortable keeping their children at home.
Athletics & Extracurricular Activities
The District is also working to allow students to participate in athletics and extracurricular activities.
- Spring Sports
- Practices begin April 3, 2021
- Competitions begin April 16, 2021
- Sports include: boys and girls track, boys and girls swimming, boys and girls diving, baseball, softball, boys golf and boys volleyball
- Intramural Fall Sports
- April 5 - May 1, 2021
- Football
- Full contact competition
- 20 days of practice culminating in a one hour intrasquad competition
- Football Intramural window is earlier to allow for the yearly helmets and pads to be reconditioned in time for the regular 2021-22 fall season
- May 3 - 22, 2021
- Sports include: boys and girls tennis, boys and girls soccer, boys and girls cross country and girls volleyball
- Staggered to avoid forcing students to choose a single sport
- These intramural/intrasquad sports will have a 20 day practice/competition window
- No spectators will be allowed at any CCSD athletics events
- School athletics will follow all guidelines from CCSD, the state, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association (NIAA)
Performing Arts
- Students will be able to engage in live learning and traditional rehearsals
- Safety protocols will be implemented to ensure the safest possible return to face-to-face instruction
- Similar to athletics, students will be permitted to engage in outside of class activities and rehearsals like, marching band, drill team, theater
- To ensure continued safety of our community, performing arts classes will have the option of engaging in streamed concerts for the immediate future

Bring your families, make signs, wear your school colors-come prepared to testify about your child’s experience in distance education or how their doing without their critical services, sports, special needs services, extracurricular activities and more, if you would like. Trustees need to hear from us and our kids. Enough is enough. Our schools must open now.

Join us! We will meet during the CCSD Board of Trustees meeting to demand our children go back to school!

Parents in Nevada are frustrated and tired of not being heard. The majority have petitioned the district to go back to school whether it be full-time or on a hybrid model, and yet elected officials continue to circumvent parents' wishes. Education is essential! Covid has disrupted our lives for long enough. WE CAN PUT SAFETY MEASURES IN PLACE, as other districts have done, to get our kids back to school. We cannot continue to be so risk-averse to COVID that we ignore the GREATER risks that exist because children are not in the classroom. Especially the great risks that exist for our lower-income and special needs students who are desperate to receive services face to face in classrooms.

Education is the great equalizer. Education is essential!

ATTENTION CCSD PARENTS!

FEBRUARY 2020:

The Sexual Education Advisory Committee (SEAC) at the Clark County School District will be meeting for their 2nd out of 3 meetings this year to possibly adopt new sex education curriculum. New curriculum has officially been proposed and will be reviewed + voted on in the next SEAC meeting. Once the committee member have voted on it, whatever was adopted will be presented to Superintendent Jara and then on to trustees for a vote to implement if he decides to present it to them without changes.

Please read and share with everyone you know. We hope to see a large turnout of parents who want to engage in this important subject. It is your right to have a voice in this process.
The agenda (provided below) has broken down each point of newly proposed instruction for discussion by SEAC members. THE MOST IMPORTANT PART are the discussions that will take place on each item. After the SEAC members discuss a proposed lesson, it is then YOUR TURN to comment. We have 3 minutes each. Once all commenting has ended, the SEAC members will vote on whether or not to adopt that singular point. This will occur for all 12 agenda items. All points adopted are what will be sent to the Superintendent as a recommendation for our new sex-ed curriculum.

To review the materials in advance, you have to do 2 things
--> Click the links here to view what we could pull up online (it is only partial). The links we retrieved are the best we could locate from the titles of the curriculum received through the board docs on the agenda provided by Curriculum & Professional Development at CCSD. To view the fully proposed curriculum including supplementals and workbooks all together at once, per Curriculum & Development, is to call for an appointment and then go review them at their office during business hours or by special appointment. Address below. A member at Power2Parent has indeed reviewed all materials so please message with any questions. The process to review takes around 2 hours.
It is imperative that you engage in this process so we can have your voice included. This is your right. You may also request any documents at any time from CCSD. Here is the information:
